Toward an Understanding of the Collaborative Process of Process Modeling

Research on quality issues of business process models has recently begun to explore the process of creating process models. With growing complexity, the creation of business process models requires the presence of several, potentially spatially distributed stakeholders. As a consequence, the question arises how this affects the process of process modeling. For this purpose, we utilized a collaborative modeling environment based on Cheetah Experimental Platform for analyzing the collaborative process of process modeling. In this work, we present hypotheses describing observations of the collaborative process of process modeling obtained from exploratory modeling sessions. These hypotheses will be tested in future work.
